Indie Music | Susie Suh
This is what’s been playing over my speakers lately- Susie Suh’s album, ‘the Backman Tapes’. I absolutely love Susie’s beautiful voice and her songs are timeless. It’s rare for me to find all the songs of an album worth listening to, where I don’t press the skip button. This album is one of those rare ones for sure- it’s equivalent to a greatest hits album. To me, Susie’s voice is calming and she instantly reminded me of Sarah MacLachlan, among others.
Her melodies are very singable and the topics of the songs capture universal human emotions, mostly that of love. My favourite tune in the bunch is called “In The Moonlight’. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and Susie does a great job on the background vocals and harmonies on all her songs.
I’ve noticed that her new stuff is expanding in the area of electro-folk, but quite frankly, I love her sound on the Bakman Tapes. I look forward to hearing any new songs she releases.
